What categories are compared?+
Each comparison covers ten freedom categories: speech, gun rights, due process, economic freedom, criminal justice, drug policy, property rights, religious liberty, education choice, and regulatory burden. Every category is scored independently and combined into an overall freedom score.
Can I compare more than two states?+
The free tier supports head-to-head comparisons of two states at a time. Pro subscribers can compare up to five states simultaneously, making it easier to narrow down a shortlist when deciding where to move.
What is the best state to move to?+
It depends on which freedoms matter most to you. Use the comparison tool to weigh the categories you care about — someone prioritizing low taxes will rank states differently than someone focused on gun rights or drug policy.
